The API Key is fully protected and will be stored encrypted on your computer in your user Word Startup folder so FlexChat.ai can reference it when it needs to. 

How your API Key is Encrypted/Protected

During Transmission: Your API key is secured with encryption when it’s transmitted over the Internet, ensuring its confidentiality.

On Your Device: For those prioritizing security, rest assured that your key is also encrypted when stored on your device.

In Word: Secure your API key within Word and prevent unauthorized use by opting for password protection. This requires anyone using FlexChat.ai to provide the password for access. Should you need to modify this feature, simply remove the existing API key and establish a new one with your preferred settings.

Where your API Key is Located

When you use the Set API Key tool, your API Key is stored in your personal Word Startup folder.

To find your Personal Startup Folder:

• Copy this strange looking string of characters:  %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\
• Hold down the Windows Key on your keyboard and then press R
• Paste %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\ into the box
• Click the OK button.
