Upgrade Instructions
1. Obtain the Latest Version – Upgrades are always Free!
If you Purchased the FlexChat.ai Add-in from the FlexChat.ai Website
- Locate your receipt e-mail (it has the subject “Your FlexChat.ai order is now complete”)
- Click the Download link to download the latest version.
If You Purchased the FlexChat.ai Add-in Someplace Else
- Email info@flexchat.ai from the e-mail you used when you purchased the add-in. Include where you purchased the add-in and request the latest version.
2. Copy the FlexChat.ai Add-in to your Microsoft Word Startup folder
- Copy this strange looking string of characters: %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
- Hold down the Windows Key on your keyboard and then press R
- Paste %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP into the box
- Click the OK button.
- Locate your downloaded FlexChat.ai add-in in your Downloads folder (or wherever you’ve saved it) and put a copy of the FlexChat.ai add-in into this STARTUP folder. (It’s a good idea to save the original in a different/safe place.)

- Fixed a bug where extracting the returned text from the ChatGPT API was returning extra text.
2.0 – 3/25/24
FlexChat.ai is Easier to Use
- FlexChat.ai has evolved into a Word Add-in, integrating its ribbon into all Word documents.
- The Conversation table uses drop-down selections instead of requiring users to enter codes.
- A new Settings tool allows setting default options for Conversations.
FlexChat.ai is More Powerful
- The new “Image Specs” feature in the ribbon offers enhanced control, including using DALL-E-3 for image creation.
- The Settings tool offers advanced options for enhanced flexibility and future-proofing.
- The “Simple Image” and “Other Chat” chats now use whatever model that you specify as the Default model in Settings rather than being hard coded to use a particular model.
FlexChat.ai is more Helpful
- You’ll find new links to Help pages in the Toolbar and in Settings.
- The Summarize and Expand tools work better than ever.
- Cut Content, Copy Content, and Paste Content now act like normal cut, copy, and paste if outside of a table cell (before they did nothing if outside of a cell).
Other Enhancements
- Removed the header information with links to help and the license, version information, and copyright and put that information in Settings.
- Got rid of the toggle header and split screen buttons on the ribbon.
- Several other small enhancements and bug fixes.
